- Have backups of your slides and printed copies
- Bake your slides into pictures so that font incompatibility isn't an issue/embed fonts
- Make sure the colors will be visible on a projector/screen
- Color theory: not more than 3 colors
- Don't stand in the way of the projector, remotes have ability to dim projector completely
- When instructing something to the audience "stand up" or "flip to the next page", always use body language to show what you mean, verbal communication has high latency.
- Magnetized paper can be used to place writings on walls
- If you forget the conclusion, delegate it to the audience by asking them to list the things they remember about this presentation.
- [[Proofreading]]
- When you distribute pamphlets it takes time for them to read it and they are disengaged from the presentation, account for this
- Feel free to adjust the space, the environment, as you need it
- Bigger "H" pencils are less visible on flipcharts, bigger "B" markers are easier to see
- When working with flipcharts, use type-font uppercase characters
- Use black and blue for writing text, green and red for confirmation/rejection
- Flipcharts should have titles so that when taken a picture of, they can tell what it's about afterwards
- If you want to change the attitude of the person, put the person in the other persons shoes. Call center employees have mirrors to look at how they look when communicating
- Self-assessment is a tool to deepen and recognize the needs that you are about to help fulfill. It primes the audience towards humility in the context of learning.
- [[The skill of visual facilitation]] - the use of shapes to express complex visuals
- When many teams are doing an assignment you can start a global discussion to control time. For example, when the teams are 70% done with the assignment but we're short on time, we can go point by point discussing each one with all the teams (if you were going to do that anyway) to cut time.
- Chinese menu method: when an audience isn't engaging - wait 10 seconds after questions in case they aren't confident enough to speak up, after that give a few points and ask for more again. Before this use icebreakers. Also give exercises or questions to small groups. When they don't answer at all go to close-ended questions, simple yes/no questions.
- Team planning: make the decisions with the individuals before the standup so that during the standup there is no back and forth discussion and there is only communication and informing everyone of what is about to happen.
- During an interactive session, write the question in the slides so that people who were daydreaming have the opportunity to jump back in
