### But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of Yahweh's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will go and say, 'Come! Let's go up to the mountain of Yahweh... for the law will go out of Zion, and Yahweh's word from Jerusalem.'
*Type*: prophecy
*Summary*: Predicts a future era when the worship of God and His law will become the central influence for all nations, with people from around the world seeking divine instruction in Jerusalem.
*Historical context*: Theologians interpret this in two primary ways: the spiritual establishment of the Christian Church and the global spread of the Gospel beginning in Jerusalem ([[Acts-01#v8|Acts 1:8]]), or a future Messianic era/Millennial Kingdom where Jerusalem serves as the literal spiritual capital of the world.

### They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war any more.
*Type*: prophecy
*Summary*: Predicts a period of universal disarmament and absolute global peace, where military training and conflict cease entirely.
*Historical context*: This remains an unfulfilled eschatological prophecy in both Jewish and Christian traditions, typically associated with the 'Messianic Age' or the Second Coming of Christ. While symbolic of the ideals of the United Nations (which features a statue based on this verse), actual global disarmament has not yet occurred.

### for now you will go out of the city, and will dwell in the field, and will come even to Babylon. There you will be rescued. There Yahweh will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
*Type*: prophecy
*Summary*: Predicts that the inhabitants of Jerusalem would be forced into exile as far as Babylon, but would eventually be rescued and redeemed from their enemies there.
*Historical context*: This prophecy was specifically fulfilled over a century after Micah's time. Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians in 586 BCE, and the population was deported to Babylon. [[In|In 539]] BCE, Cyrus the Great of Persia conquered Babylon and issued a decree (corroborated by the Cyrus Cylinder) allowing the Jewish exiles to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple.

### I will assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted; and I will make that which was lame a remnant, and that which was cast far off a strong nation: and Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from then on, even forever.
*Type*: prophecy
*Summary*: Predicts the restoration of the exiled and suffering people of Israel as a strong nation under the direct, eternal rule of God.
*Historical context*: Historians point to the post-exilic return under Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah as a partial fulfillment. Christians interpret 'Yahweh's reign' as being established through Jesus Christ, particularly in the formation of the Church as a spiritual nation (the 'remnant').

### to you it will come, yes, the former dominion will come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
*Type*: prophecy
*Summary*: Predicts the restoration of the former sovereignty and Davidic kingdom to Jerusalem.
*Historical context*: This is often viewed as being fulfilled through the lineage of David culminating in the Messiah. In the New Testament, Jesus is presented as the heir to this 'former dominion' ([[Luke-01#v32|Luke 1:32]]-33). It also relates to the political restoration of Judea during the Hasmonean era.
