Why do all major religions give credit to Jesus Christ? ### **Islam** > Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts). \- [Sahih al-Bukhari (Volume 3, Book 43, Number 656)](https://www.sahih-bukhari.com/Pages/Bukhari_3_43.php) قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۗ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَـٰنًۭا وَكُفْرًۭا ۖ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ٦٨ > Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! You have nothing to stand on unless you observe the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.” And your Lord’s revelation to you ˹O Prophet˺ will only cause many of them to increase in wickedness and disbelief. So do not grieve for the people who disbelieve. \- [Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:68](https://quran.com/en/al-maidah/68) ### **Buddhism** - **The Dalai Lama:** In his book The Good Heart: A Buddhist Perspective on the Teachings of Jesus, the 14th Dalai Lama explores the Gospels. He refers to Jesus as a "fully enlightened being" or a "Bodhisattva"—a highly realized spiritual master who chose to incarnate to help humanity. - **Thich Nhat Hanh:** The renowned Vietnamese Zen Master wrote a book titled Living Buddha, Living Christ. In it, he explores the deep spiritual connections between the teachings of both figures. He suggests that both Buddha and Jesus reached the highest states of spiritual realization. ### **Judaism** ![[Isa-09#v6]] or at ![[Isa-52#v13]] \- Isaiah 52:13 In the original Hebrew, the terms used for "high" (yarum) and "lifted up" (nissa) are highly significant. This exact combination of Hebrew verbs (ram ve-nissa) is used elsewhere in the Book of Isaiah to describe God Himself: ![[Isa-06#v1]] \- Isaiah 6:1 ![[Isa-57#v15]] \- Isaiah 57:15 By using the same phrasing for the Servant in Isaiah 52:13, the text suggests that the Servant, after his suffering and rejection, is elevated to a status or position associated with the divine throne. ### **Hinduism** #### 1. Jesus as an Avatar (Divine Incarnation) In Hinduism, the concept of avatar refers to the descent of the Divine into the material world to restore dharma (righteousness and cosmic order) when it is in decline, as described in the Bhagavad Gita. - Many Hindus view Jesus as one of these divine incarnations, alongside figures like Krishna, Rama, and Buddha. - From this perspective, Jesus is seen as a manifestation of the Supreme Reality (Brahman or Ishvara) sent to guide humanity at a specific time and place. #### 2. Jesus as a Satguru or Yogi Many Hindu thinkers and practitioners regard Jesus as a Satguru (a true spiritual teacher) or a highly advanced yogi who attained Moksha (liberation) or self-realization. - Sages like Swami Vivekananda, Paramahansa Yogananda, and Sri Ramakrishna held Jesus in high esteem. Yogananda, for instance, wrote extensively on the "Second Coming of Christ" as the awakening of the "Christ Consciousness" (the divine intelligence inherent in all creation) within the individual devotee. - In this view, Jesus's teachings on love, compassion, forgiveness, and humility align closely with the ethical principles of ahimsa (non-violence) and bhakti (devotion to God). #### 3. Vedantic Interpretations Advaita Vedanta, a major school of Hindu philosophy, often interprets the teachings of Jesus through the lens of the oneness of the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman). - Vedantins often point to biblical statements such as "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30) or "The kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21) as expressions of realization of the divine self within, mirroring the Upanishadic declaration Aham Brahmasmi ("I am the Divine"). - From this viewpoint, Jesus was a realized soul pointing others toward the same realization of their own inherent divinity. ### 4. Perspectives of Modern Reformers During the 19th and 20th centuries, several prominent Hindu reformers engaged deeply with the figure of Jesus, often distinguishing between the teachings of Jesus and the institutionalized dogmas of Western Christianity. - Mahatma Gandhi was deeply influenced by the Sermon on the Mount, which he felt closely mirrored the principles of satyagraha (truth-force) and ahimsa. Gandhi admired Jesus as one of the greatest teachers of humanity. - Swami Vivekananda spoke of Jesus with great reverence, stating that if he had lived in Palestine during Jesus's time, he would have washed his feet with his tears. --- So, if all affirm Jesus Christ and ![[John-14#v6]] \- John 14:6 then the logical conclusion is that Jesus Christ is the way. --- Published: 2026-07-05 00:03
